I live 2 blocks from Key Plaza. I don’t bike to the sore, as it’s unsafe to bike with groceries. I drive. I don’t like Key Plaza because it lacks adequate convenient parking. Both Keys Plaza and Searstown have serious storm water drainage problems, as demonstrated this week.

As a Key West resident and a member of a family that has been here long before I arrived, I wholeheartedly encourage our commissioners to demand that Publix/any other big business hoping to profit off our island follows our architectural style as Key West is rapidly losing its charm and individuality. Many people deliberately choose Key West because it is not the concrete modern neutral wasteland that exists outside of the Florida keys. If we do not make an effort to force new development to align with Key West standards, this island will lose its appeal and desirability among tourists + locals alike. Please help us keep Key West unique and architecturally true to who she is 🙏
