With all due respect, a performance review of "5 out of 5 in 10 critical areas" sends the message, that not even one employee or constituent had ever voiced a legitimate lingering concern, the employee is beyond reproach, and there is absolutely no room for improvement.
In actuality, a blanket response drives dishonesty with the employee, staff, fellow Commissioners, and the taxpayers.
brian barroso has the most challenging job in city hall. commisioner haskell and kaufman gave honest feedback, carey seems to have blindly submitted 5/5 on everything, veliz declined the request but was approving and commisioner lee has an obvious conflict of interest.castillo and the mayor have yet to submit an evaluation. although barroso has twice threatening me directly for comments in the past (albeit softly) i think he is doing his best and i want to support him because i care about key west. it seems he cares more about key west from a financial point of view but i think that is often at times not in the best interest of the long term cultural health of our city. (no hard feelings bb)
How can this resolution be put on the agenda when only 2 commissioners and the Mayor have submitted their review? I am also taken back that the mayor and one commissioner awarded all 5's (the highest score) to a new City Manager without any municipal experience. I cannot fathom how someone in a new executive role can master their new role and position without any room for improvement. I believe this needs to be postponed until all commissioners respond to the evaluation and those responses are made Public. I also implore the commissioners and Mayor who have already responded to re-review the evaluation.
