4 26-4915 *Approving Resolution No. 565-2025 adopted by the Board of County Commissioners of Monroe County, Florida on December 10, 2025, as attached hereto and made a part hereof as Exhibit A to this Resolution.
I strongly support this resolution opposing new offshore oil and gas leasing off Florida’s coast. Our local economy, public safety, and quality of life depend on a healthy marine environment. Even drilling activities far offshore pose unacceptable risks to the Florida Keys due to prevailing currents, fragile ecosystems, and the lessons of the Deepwater Horizon disaster. Protecting our reefs, fisheries, national parks, and tourism-based economy must remain a priority, and I urge the Commission to join neighboring communities in adopting this resolution unanimously
