There comes a time when leaders need to take responsibility. Not only for their successes, but also for their errors. There was an error made with respect to the “waiting list” and Seth Salzman was not given the next slip available in the Key West Bight for his historic schooner, When and If. The time to take responsibility for this oversight is now. You have a procedure that will allow you to direct the City to enter into an agreement for its dockage, which will not only correct the issue, but also allow a historic vessel into the Bight, which will gain more visibility for your historic seaport. Please consider the historic value of the seaport itself, not just the economic value.

I am writing in support of Seth Salzman and encourage the board to vote in favor of negotiating a dock agreement with him. Seth is an asset to Key West’s nautical community and his ships are both historic and beautiful. As CO, Admiral and High Sealord of the Conch Republic Navy, Seth is a leader in the seafaring community of Key West. Assigning him a slip in the Key West Bight is not only appropriate, it is well deserved. His charter sails are of the highest caliber and his ship’s presence will enhance the waterfront experience of both locals and visitors alike. Please support Seth’s endeavor to bring his iconic schooners to the Bight. Thank you.
