The Duval Loop needs about $800K to survive being eliminated. A good time to test the idea of using TDC funds for transit. Or an increase in parking fees.
Over the past few years the Loop has rebounded. So far this year the Loop is up 21% over last year. Contrast this with Key West Rides down -15%, Workforce Express up 2%, Lower Keys Shuttle down -2%. In the current FY through public figures available through April the Loop accounts for 43% of all Key West Transit rides, KWR 23%, LKS 29% and WFE 6%. It is the most productive route AND cutting it will affect State/Fed funding formulas going forward putting further strain on the system. The Loop helps downtown prosper. Please save it.
