15 22-3004 *Authorizing an expenditure of Law Enforcement Trust Funds (Forfeiture Funds) in an amount not to exceed $15,400.93 for tuition, lodging, fuel and per diem expenses for one KWPD officer to attend the Southern Police Institute 91st Command Officers Development course (SPI-CODC) between October 2022 and February 2023.
This seems like a worthy expenditure, more investment and attention by the City in training and development of police and all City staff is needed. That being said, why isn't this modest amount for training included in the normal recurring budget for staff training and professional development as a needed and appropriate expenditure, while reserving forfeiture funds for one off special needs? There are many struggling nonprofit service providers in our community serving those in need?
