Accepting/Denying the attached Contract Amendment Request from Waste Management of Florida, Inc. (WMI) for amendments to solid waste and recycling collection service rates for residential and commercial units.
I oppose any rate adjustment to the Waste Management contract. WM negotiated a sweetheart deal with the City in 2014 in which future rate increases were clearly established. There is NO way the City should consider renegotiating that deal; the WM corporate website is touting revenue increases of $425 MILLION for the 2nd quarter of 2021, on the way to overall revenue growth between 15.5%-16% for the year. If WM needs to cover additional labor costs, they can take it from their corporate windfalls, not the pockets of the citizens of Key West. Please vote NO to renegotiate rates
