9 21-6606 *Supporting Florida House Bill 563 and Senate Bill 674, which would authorize counties and municipalities to grant certain ad valorem tax exemptions to property owners whose property is used for the purpose of providing affordable housing; Authorizing the City Clerk to provide copies of the Resolution to members of the Florida Legislature.
Seems to be a good idea to allow local jurisdictions to provide financial incentives in the form of reduced property taxes for investors/owners supporting affordable housing; it is unclear whether the proposed bill provides the local jurisdiction the flexibility to provide property tax exemptions for extremely low, very low, and low income without also including the moderate income investors/owners that are referenced in the proposed bill; it is questionable whether investors/owners of moderate income properties need or deserve additional taxpayer incentives
